How can you tell the difference between real diamonds and fake diamonds?

I would like to know how can you tell the difference between real diamonds and fake diamonds, and I would also like to know how you can tell what diamonds are better quality... Thank you

1. A very simple diamond test is to breathe hot air on it. if it fogs up, its glass or plastic. diamonds disperse excess water vapour very quickly, so a real diamond won't fog up. a second test is to try to scratch a glass surface. this one is a bit more dangerous and may ruin your ring if its fake. quality wise? take it to a dealer.
2. Very simple - take a black pen-tel and make a small point on the edge of the stone. i you can see it from the table - it is 100% fake stone. If it is a diamond that was polished with the right proportions I shouldn't see it. 3. If you have a gem scale, you can weigh it. CZ are more dense than diamonds.
